About this website
The Swedish
website www.kommed.nu was originally
the home for a project called "Communication through technology
- from an every day perspective". The project was running from
1999 to 2002, supported by the Swedish Handicap Institute and
Vinnova. Its aim was to develop methods for enhancing communication of
non-speaking students with severe physical disabilities, using models
for collaborative problem solving and technology. We who worked on this
project was Bitte Rydeman, speech and language pathologist at DaKo in
Halmstad, and Gerd Zachrisson, occupational therapist at DART in
Gothenburg. Tutor for the project was professor Eva Björck-Åkesson at
Mälardalen University.
This project was reported at the international ISAAC conference in
Odense 2002, and the slides from the presentation are available at this
site. The presentation was called "Who's
in charge - consumer focus on AAC intervention".
The website www.kommed.nu has
since developed to become a resource in the Swedish language for
information about communication aids: symbol
software, dynamic displays, VOCA:s
and computer software for speech- and language
training. It also has reports (in Swedish) from Swedish and
international conferences, such as CSUN 2000, ISAAC
2000 and ID-dagarna 2000 and 2001.
